I was born in Liverpool and back in the 1960’s I came to study Geography at Birmingham University. I was already a Christian when I joined St Stephen’s. Here I found a warm welcome as a student and enjoyed the good Bible teaching. Although the church had formal liturgy and a robed choir, change was afoot with the introduction of more informal youth services. I remember we had some very gifted musicians at the time who went on to establish Christian Music Ministries. My future husband, Richard, got involved in one of their events where he appeared on stage with Cliff Richard!
We both got involved as assistant leaders in the early days of Cross Section and house parties. Here we made many friends, many of whom have gone on into full time Christian ministry.
Richard and I married in 1974 after we’d both completed our post graduate studies. We went on to establish a Pathfinder group, initially with the youngsters of the robed choir in mind. This eventually led to two separate groups with the young people at St Stephens and at the Church Centre on Pershore Road. This ministry would eventually lead to the establishment of Christ Church.
I completed my studies in Social Work, worked as a Probation Officer for 6 years, took time out to raise a family and went on to work for 20 years in Social Work until I retired in 2011.
I continue to be involved in the life of the church and am currently involved in the work of the Day Centre.
