Seniors
People often comment when they visit our church that they love seeing the mixture of young and old in church. It is a privilege to be part of a church community that encompasses all ages. We are very thankful for the older members of our congregation. Many continue to serve into their eighties and beyond and they bring wisdom, perspective and encouragement for us all.
We have a weekly, daytime fellowship group for seniors that meets at church for ease of access. This provides a time for bible study and prayer, as well as a very important time to chat and to share with one another.
Every second Thursday in the month we host a Seniors’ Tea at church. Our monthly teas are a time to connect with friends, old and new. They are also a time to connect with God, through a short talk hymn and prayer. Everyone is welcome for delicious home-made cakes, tea and coffee.
We run a short Lent course for Seniors. This is held at church with a slightly different focus each year.
We try to stay in touch with folks who can no longer get to church, by visiting and taking communion to those at home or in nursing homes. Our clergy are also involved in leading services at a couple of local residential homes.
We take safeguarding seriously and all those who work with seniors are safely recruited and receive safeguarding training.
